Gates Of The Arctic National Park encompasses the majority of this high-latitude terrain, where the northern drainage patterns of the Brooks Range are meticulously documented. The glacial and periglacial landscape is defined by the Kurupa River, which flows northward through the eastern half of the quadrangle. In the southwest, the headwaters and tributaries of Ayakalak Cr and Mary Cr carve through the high-elevation contours, illustrating the complex hydrological network that feeds the Arctic watershed. This 2016 survey captures a purely wilderness environment, devoid of permanent settlements or infrastructure, focusing instead on the precise topography and natural watercourses of the North Slope's interior.
