La Mota Mountain and the expansive Tascotal Mesa define this high-desert landscape in Presidio County. The terrain is deeply incised by a network of seasonal drainage systems, most notably Terneros Creek which flows eastward through the central portion of the quadrangle. Smaller tributaries like Navajo Creek and canyon systems such as Teco Canyon and Ministro Canyon reveal the complex erosion patterns of the Chihuahuan Desert.
