About this map

Yellowstone National Park encompasses a landscape of geothermal activity and deep water in this 1980s study of the Yellowstone Lake shoreline. The northern reach of the lake meets the Yellowstone River at Fishing Bridge, a critical junction for travel through the interior of the park. Geothermal features are densely clustered in the north, where Mud Volcano, Black Dragons Caldron, and various Mud Geysers define the hydrothermal character of the terrain.
