The international boundary between Canada and the United States of America winds through this northern landscape, defined largely by the course of the Saint Francis River. This frontier territory in northernmost Maine is characterized by a dense network of waterways flowing toward the border, including the Rivière Bleue and its numerous tributaries such as Petite rivière Bleue and Cours d'eau Théberge.
