Laverty and Norge define the local geography of this central Oklahoma landscape, where the Caddo and Grady County line divides the rolling plains. The area is heavily defined by water management and conservation, evidenced by a series of reservoirs including Little Washita Site 41 Reservoir, Little Washita Site 39 Reservoir, and the prominent Lake Louis Burtschi. These sites reflect mid-twentieth century efforts to manage the drainage of the Little Washita River and its tributaries like Bills Creek and McCarty Creek.
