The terrain is crisscrossed by an extensive network of oil and gas wells, reflecting the industrial character of the region during the late twentieth century. Along the eastern boundary, the H E Bailey Toll Road Turnpike cuts a diagonal path through the countryside, connecting the rural landscape to larger regional hubs.

Local history is preserved through the naming of small community centers and burial grounds, including the Laverty Cem near the settlement of Laverty, and the Pioneer Cem located beside Pioneer Ch and Pioneer Sch. The hydrology of the area is shaped by several drainages, most notably East Bills Creek and West Bills Creek, which eventually give way to the Little Washita River in the southeast corner near Farwell.
