Devils River dominates the eastern edge of this 2019 topographical landscape, cutting a deep path through the canyon lands of Val Verde County. The area is defined by a complex network of seasonal drainage and steep elevation changes, with Rough Canyon, Dark Canyon, and Cedar Spring Canyon carving through the limestone terrain toward the river. Human presence is sparse in this arid environment, represented primarily by the Dickerson Ranch on the western side of the quadrangle. Several named waterways, including Lechuguilla Cr, Indian Cr, and the ominously titled Dead Mans Cr, provide a detailed look at the hydrological patterns that have shaped this portion of the Texas borderlands.
