Towanda Creek and its tributary North Branch dictate the settlement patterns of this central Bradford County landscape, carving valleys where small villages like Leroy and West Leroy take root. The northern half of the region is characterized by established rural crossroads such as Granville Center, Bailey Corners, and Sayees Corners, connected by a network of local roads and a significant Pipeline corridor.

South of the main valley, the terrain shifts dramatically as it rises into the extensive State Game Lands No 12. This highland area is dotted with numerous small water bodies including Sunfish Pond, Mud Pond, and Holcomb Pond. Remnants of industrial activity are visible near the southern edge at Barclay, Carbon, and Laquin, while resource extraction is noted through a Gravel Pit and Sandpit closer to the creek. The presence of Fairview Ch at the northeastern corner serves as a landmark for the community of West Burlington.
