The southwestern corner is anchored by the northern reaches of the Bartlett Reservoir, a critical water source for the region. The landscape is etched with a network of drainage systems, including the South Fork Sheep Creek and Canyon Creek, which carve through ridges such as Black Ridge and Cypress Ridge.

Evidence of historical activity is found at the Story Mine and across high-altitude clearings like Potato Patch and Tournament Flat. Numerous springs and water improvements, such as Pats Shoe Spring, Jack Spring, and Brunson Tank, are scattered throughout the hills, connected by primitive jeep trails and pack trails that follow the natural contours of the terrain near Lion Mountain and SB Mountain.
