High-altitude hydrology and protected wilderness define this reach of the Blue Mountains on the border of Baker and Grant counties. The North Fork Malheur Wild and Scenic River bisects the landscape, joined by numerous drainages including Horseshoe Creek and Deadhorse Creek. This modern survey illustrates the convergence of several major federal land designations, where the Whitman National Forest and Malheur National Forest meet the protected boundaries of the Monument Rock Wilderness.
