Peoples Creek and its southern fork wind through this part of the Lodge Pole District, defining a landscape of high plains and deep drainages. In this 2014 survey, the topography is dominated by the prominent elevation of Black Butte, which serves as a central landmark above the surrounding terrain. The intricate network of coulees, including Corral Coulee and Wolf Coulee, illustrates the erosional patterns typical of the Montana-Blaine County border region.
