The Green River carves a winding path through the canyon and valley floor of northwest Colorado, defining a landscape of low-lying river bottoms and high plateaus. This remote corner of Moffat County is characterized by a series of distinct riverside flats, including JS Hoy Bottom, Nelson Bottom, and Grimes Bottom, which served as vital grazing and settlement sites for early ranchers. The geography is deeply influenced by the surrounding highlands, notably the massive Diamond Mtn to the south and the sheltered expanse of Browns Park.
