Lone Butte rises above the high desert landscape of eastern Idaho, serving as a primary landmark in this rural section of Clark County. The hydrology of the region is defined by the south-flowing Medicine Lodge Cr on the western edge and the winding path of Cottonwood Cr, which cuts through the central sections of the quadrangle. Transportation is limited to a sparse grid of local roads and the primary east-west thoroughfare, Id-22.
