Buffalo Gap National Grassland encompasses much of this Fall River County landscape, where the high plains are dissected by a network of drainage systems. The topography is defined by the winding paths of Horsehead Cr and Lone Well Cr, while the southeastern corner is marked by the distinct depression of Antelope Hollow. These natural features dictated the early transportation routes and homestead locations throughout the region.
