Elk Falls sits at the southern edge of this Elk County landscape, where the meandering Elk River carves a path through the prairie terrain. The river system is fed by numerous tributaries including Snake Cr, Pawpaw Cr, and Mound Br, which define the drainage patterns across the region. In the northern section, Polk Daniels Lake serves as a significant water feature, while the northern boundary is marked by a distinctive series of reservoirs or ponds collectively labeled Mule.
