The Grouse Creek Mountains anchor the northern landscape of this high-desert region in Box Elder County. Water is the primary driver of development and movement across this arid terrain, as evidenced by the clustered hydrologic features in the southwest. Historical paths are preserved through modern infrastructure, most notably along Immigrant Trail Rd, which traces a path through the basin. Local livestock and land management are signaled by the presence of the Rabbit Spring Reservoir, fed by Rabbit Spring and East Rabbit Spring. Away from these water sources, the landscape is defined by the rigid grid of 72000 W Rd and the quiet seclusion of Owl Spring.
