Clear Fork Brazos River winds through the eastern edge of this landscape, carving through the terrain where Jones, Haskell, and Shackelford counties meet. The area is defined by its rural ranching character, centered on the Rockdale Cem and the intersection of Rockdale Rd and Bean RD. To the north, California Creek feeds into the local drainage system, while Fish Cr provides a smaller riparian landmark in the southeast. A network of secondary roads, including Hendrick Ranch RD and Loop RD, connects the scattered ranch holdings and family lands across this transition of the Rolling Plains.
