About this map

The Deschutes River serves as the western boundary of the Little Agency Plains in this 1963 survey, a landscape defined by dramatic basalt canyons and early 1960s infrastructure. High on the canyon walls, the Warm Springs Indian Reservation borders the river, overlooking the recently formed Lake Simtustus and the massive Pelton Dam. The transition from the river bottom to the high plateau reveals a network of agricultural development, notably the North Unit Main Canal and Main Canal, which brought irrigation to the dry soils of the Agency Plains.
