Wood Ranch sits within the broad corridor of the Pahsimeroi River valley, a landscape defined by the convergence of several major drainage systems. In this high-basin environment of Custer County, the river is fed by the braiding waters of Goldburg Creek and Doublespring Creek, creating a complex network of seasonal and perennial flows that have historically supported ranching operations. The topography shifts abruptly to the west, where Mahogany Hill rises above Dry Canyon and Mulkey Gulch. This 2011 survey documents the established roadway network, including Pahsimeroi Valley Rd and Doublespring Rd, which provide access through the valley and into the neighboring National Forest lands via routes like Nat For Dev Rd 106.
