The Pahsimeroi Valley serves as a stark natural corridor between the Pahsimeroi Mountains to the west and the high Lemhi Range foothills to the east. This late-1980s landscape is dominated by the Pahsimeroi River, which flows northwest toward its eventual confluence with the Salmon River. The small settlement of May is the primary human hub shown here, supported by an Airport and a local Cem. The map reveals the intricate water management required for ranching in this arid high-mountain valley, noting an Aqueduct and numerous irrigation ditches branching off from the river and tributaries like Patterson Creek and Morgan Creek. While the valley floor is relatively level, the western portion of the sheet rises sharply into the high peaks of the Pahsimeroi Range, where a single Trail provides access into the steep backcountry of the Challis National Forest area near Sulphur Creek.
