The Lemhi Range dominates the high country of this portion of the Challis National Forest, where steep drainages like Summerhouse Canyon and Sawmill Canyon cut through the high-elevation terrain. This 2017 survey captures a landscape defined by significant elevation changes, from the heights of Bear Mtn and Iron Creek Point down to the Little Lost River Valley. Access to these remote reaches is maintained by primitive routes such as Pahsimeroi Rd and the Sawmill Canyon Road FR 101. To the south, the terrain transitions into the Mud Flats and the unique landforms of the Donkey Hills. The map provides a detailed view of the complex water network feeding the valley, including Summit Cr and Barney Cr, which are critical to the hydrology of this arid mountain environment.
