Challis National Forest dominates the western half of this Custer County landscape, where deep basins and high ridges define the central Idaho backcountry. The terrain is deeply carved by the East Fork Salmon River, which winds through the southern and eastern portions of the quadrangle. High-altitude drainages such as Spud-Marco Creek and Marco Cr flow toward the river, supported by water sources like Marco Spring and Lmb Spring.
