Wolf River and its numerous rapids and falls define this landscape in the southern reaches of the Nicolet National Forest. Flowing through the borderlands of Langlade, Oconto, and Menominee Counties, the river's path is marked by distinctive water features including Gilmores Mistake Rapids, Shotgun Eddy Rapids, and Big Smoky Falls. To the west, the Evergreen River mirrors this descent, tumbling through Evergreen Falls and Ducknest Falls before its confluence with the Wolf.
