Bear River winding through the southwestern corner of this Lincoln County landscape provides the primary hydrological anchor for a complex network of agricultural irrigation. The area near the settlement of Marse and the geological formation known as The Narrows is defined by a dense concentration of man-made waterways, including the Noblett Ditch and the lengthy Stoner Nelson Wheelock Ditch. These diversions illustrate the persistent effort to manage water in a high-elevation environment dominated by the Sublette Range.
