The Little Tonzona River snakes across this subarctic landscape in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, defining the drainage patterns of the McGrath region. Numerous tributaries, including Clear Fork, Jones Cr, and S Fork Jones Cr, feed into the larger water system, revealing the complex hydrography of the Alaskan interior. The terrain is marked by the curious naming of No Cr and the winding course of Deepbank Cr to the south. This area, largely defined by its natural watercourses and the Public Land Survey System grids, remains a wilderness of braided streams and undeveloped territory. The alignment of township and range lines across these watersheds illustrates the administrative mapping of the vast unorganized borough during the early 21st century.
