The Tatalina Long Range Radar Site serves as a prominent landmark in this interior Alaskan landscape, situated among the southern reaches of the Kuskokwim Mountains. Access to this remote facility is provided by the Sterling Landing/Takotna/Ophir Road, which winds through the elevation changes between Takotna Mtn and the river valleys below. This terrain is defined by the drainage patterns of the Takotna River and the Tatalina River, where the high ground of Porcupine Ridge and Roundabout Mtn overlooks extensive wetlands.
