McRenolds Reservoir and the high drainage basins of the Targhee National Forest define this landscape along the Idaho and Wyoming border. This high-country region is characterized by a complex network of equestrian and hiking paths, including the long Jackpine-Pinochle Loop and the historic Poachers Trl. The terrain is deeply incised by numerous waterways such as Bitch Creek, Morris Creek, and Bull Elk Creek, which carve through the ridges south of the Jedediah Smith Wilderness.
