Meacham Lake sits at the northern edge of this high-elevation landscape, surrounded by the dense drainages of Meacham Cr and Beaver Cr. The terrain is defined by its deep canyons and prominent ridges, including the elongated Blue Kettle Ridge and Salmon Back Ridge, which divide the many seasonal and perennial forks feeding the Umatilla River system. Much of the area is managed as the Umatilla National Forest, with the southeastern corner transitioning into the Whitman National Forest.
