The high ridgelines of the Preuss Range dominate this portion of the Caribou National Forest, where the border between Caribou and Bear Lake counties runs along the divide. This 2023 survey documents a landscape defined by sharp peaks and deep canyons, including the 10,305-foot Meade Peak and the prominent Gannett Hill. High-altitude flats such as Whiskey Flat and Giveout provide rare level ground amidst the steep drainage systems of Crow Creek and Montpelier Creek.
