Inaru River and Niklavik Cr define this Arctic landscape in the Meade River D-3 SE quadrangle. The terrain is characterized by a dense network of thaw lakes and wetlands, typical of the North Slope's permafrost environment. The map records the intricate hydrology of the region as it existed in 2020, showing a landscape almost entirely defined by water and ice-scoured basins. Surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey, the area is subdivided by the Public Land Survey System, including t17n r21w and t18n r21w. These grid lines provide the only structural human markers across an otherwise undisturbed coastal plain, where drainage patterns like those of the Inaru River shift slowly over the flat, low-lying tundra.
