Chequamegon National Forest land dominates this section of Taylor County, where the dense hydrology of northern Wisconsin is on full display. The northern half of the quadrangle is characterized by a high concentration of glacial lakes, including Sackett Lake, Matt Ochs Lake, and the descriptively named Grassy Knoll Lake. These water bodies, along with the North Fork Yellow River, drain through a complex network of wetlands and creeks such as Leuthey Cr and Paugel Cr.

Human settlement remains sparse, concentrated along routes like Perkinstown Ave and Co Hwy E. Historical markers of the community include the Molitor Cem located near Division Dr and the centrally located Schoolhouse Lake.
