The unincorporated settlement of Meredith anchors the southern portion of this landscape, situated where the borders of Roscommon, Clare, and Gladwin counties converge. This interior Michigan terrain is defined by a dense concentration of small glacial lakes and an intricate network of forest roads and trails, such as Meredith Grade Rd and Picnic Gate Rd. The water system is particularly complex, with Hoister Lake and Trout Lake feeding the headwaters of the Middle Branch Cedar River and North Branch Cedar River.
