The Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge dominates the southeastern corner of this Marshall County landscape, where the Tamarack Pool and Northwest Pool are separated by a prominent Spoil Bank. The terrain is defined by a grid of rural section lines that cut through the glacial lake plain, crossing the meandering path of the Middle River. Traces of early 1960s local infrastructure are evident in the scatter of Gravel Pit sites and a lonely Radio Tower standing in the central fields. Genealogists will find particular value in the marked locations of the Riverside Cem and Evangelical Cem, both situated along the township roads. The map illustrates a strictly agricultural and conservation-focused environment, transitioning from the managed wetlands of the refuge to the open prairie of Como and Cedar townships.
