Lagarto Cr and its various tributaries wind through this ranching landscape along the border of Live Oak and Jim Wells Counties. The terrain is characterized by a network of drainage systems including Longoria Cr, Julian Cr, and Barbone Cr, which carve through the south Texas brush country. A distinct topographic feature, Dix Hollow, provides a break in the undulating surface west of the main highway corridor.
