Goodyear occupies the southern reaches of the Maricopa County desert floor, where the landscape transitions into the steep, rising contours of the Sierra Estrella mountains. This 2018 survey reveals a grid of rural arterial roads such as Litchfield Rd and Empire Blvd beginning to stretch across the alluvial plain, though much of the land remains dominated by natural drainage systems. The Waterman Wash and its West Prong Waterman Wash snake through the arid terrain, converging south of the mountain slopes. Evidence of water management for livestock or local needs is found at Big Mac Tank, a isolated landmark in the southwestern portion of the sheet. In the east, the topography shifts dramatically as the land climbs toward Sevenmile Mtn, marking the rugged eastern boundary of this desert quadrangle.
