High-altitude hydrology and rugged terrain define this portion of Fremont County, Wyoming, as it appeared in the early 1980s. The landscape is dominated by the Washakie Reservoir, where the South Fork Little Wind River and the Little Wind River converge. This drainage system serves as the primary lifeblood of the area, supporting a network of alpine lakes and seasonal streams. To the southwest, the elevation rises sharply toward several prominent peaks, including Mount Popo Agie and Mount Cross.
