1968 Map of Mokapu

About this map

The Windward side of Oahu, specifically the Mokapu Peninsula and the growing residential corridors of Kailua and Lanikai, is captured here just before the completion of major modern infrastructure projects. The landscape is defined by its volcanic geology and extensive wetlands, notably Ulupau Crater at the tip of the peninsula and the sprawling Kawainui Swamp to the west. Military presence is prominent, with the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station occupying the northern point and the Bellows Air Force Station situated to the south.
