About this map

Lewis and Clark National Forest encompasses the high country of this mid-century survey, dominated by the peak of Moose Mountain and a complex network of drainage basins. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of numerous streams, including Wolsey Creek, Adams Creek, and Jumping Creek, which carve through the elevations of Meagher and Cascade Counties. Along the southern edge of the quadrangle, human intervention in the watershed is visible through the Holstrom Ditch, a significant water-management feature that runs parallel to Sheep Creek. This area served as a focal point for forestry and recreation in the late 1960s, evidenced by the established Moose Creek Campground and Jumping Creek Campground. Faint traces of resource extraction and monitoring appear in the form of a Prospect, scattered Gravel Pits, and a Gaging Sta near the forest boundary.
