Mount Vernon and Romance anchor the northern reaches of this rural landscape, situated along the border of Faulkner Co and White Co. The area is defined by a series of parallel ridges and drainages, most notably Cadron Ridge and Bull Mountain in the south. These heights overlook the winding courses of Muddy Bayou and Little Bull Creek. The map records several small congregational centers such as Union Hill Ch and Smyrna Ch, which served as the social fabric for the scattered farming homesteads of the early 1960s.
