Frenchman Lake and the smaller Cowboys Lake sit at the center of this Toole County landscape, where the high plains of northern Montana are carved by deep glacial and erosion-formed features. The topography is defined by the sharp descent of Sunburst Coulee in the northeast and the winding path of Rocky Springs Coulee further south. These drainages, along with Hedly Coulee, reveal the complex watershed of the region.
