The small settlements of Whitfield and Louise anchor the north-central portion of this Troup County landscape, characterized by a series of engineered water bodies and family-named landmarks. Numerous small dams and lakes, including Newberry Lake, Days Lake, and Hanks Lake, dot the tributaries of Shoal Creek and Long Cane Creek, illustrating the extensive land management in the region. To the southeast, the community of Mountville sits near the crossing of several rural routes and the local school at Camp Viola.

Genealogists will find an unusually high density of burial sites across the quadrangle. From the northern Shiloh Cemetery to the centrally located Reid Cemetery and the Traylor Johnson Cemetery further south, these markers document the long-standing family lineages of the area.
