The Bear River Range forms a high-altitude spine through this section of the Cache National Forest, where the deep drainage of the Logan River cuts through the southern terrain. By the late 1960s, this area had become a well-developed corridor for recreation and forest management. A dense concentration of established sites lines the riverbanks, including the Guinevah Amphitheater, Wood Camp Guard Station, and several family-named campgrounds like Preston Valley Campground and Beirdneau Campground.
