The landscape is marked by historical extraction sites such as the Mammoth Consolidated Mine and Monte Cristo Mine, while institutions like St Joseph Ch and the Mammoth Sch indicate a growing permanent community.

Lower elevations to the east feature the ranching operations of the Arcularius Ranch and Cashbaugh Ranch along the Owens River. Thermal activity is prominent throughout the quadrangle, evidenced by Casa Diablo Hot Sprs and Whitmore Hot Springs.
