Wrangell-Saint Elias National Preserve and the Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness dominate this high-altitude landscape, where glacial activity and mountain peaks define the topography. The ice-carved terrain is characterized by the presence of Nikonda Glacier in the west and Cross Creek Glacier toward the center, feeding the waters of Cross Creek as it flows through the deep valleys of the Wrangell Mountains.
