2021 Map of New Pass

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

The Churchill Co and Lander Co line bisects this high-desert landscape, where the Desatoya Mountains meet the northern New Pass Range. This region is defined by the critical water sources that sustained travelers through the Great Basin, including the New Pass Spring and the Upper-Lower Jordan Valley Spring. The map centers on the high point of New Pass, a geographic notch through which the modern 50 follows an ancient corridor between mountain massifs. To the southeast, the terrain descends toward the Smith Creek Valley, while the drainage of New Pass Cr flows through the northern canyons. The survey captures a sparsely populated interior Nevada landscape where elevation and spring locations dictated the paths of historic movement and boundary lines.
