The Missouri River cuts a wide, meandering path across this landscape, defining the boundary between Roosevelt and McCone counties. Near the river's northern banks, Chelsea Island and the Chelsea Slough mark a complex riparian environment where Chelsea Cr enters from the west. The terrain transitions from these low-lying floodplains to the higher, dissected uplands of the south, where the Redwater River and Remley Cr flow through deeply etched coulees.
