Ava serves as the primary settlement within this highland landscape, situated just north of the S Fourche Site One Reservoir and the South Fourche LaFave River. The terrain is defined by a dense network of ridges and peaks, including Bear Creek Mtn, Locust Mtn, and North Deckard Mtn, all contained within the extensive boundaries of the Ouachita National Forest. This 2014 survey documents a rugged interface where mountain hydrology transitions into established forestry roads and small community landmarks.
