Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area dominates the southeastern quadrant of this terrain, where the waters of the Columbia River are impounded within Franklin D Roosevelt Lake. The landscape is defined by the complex drainage systems of Ninemile Cr and Little Ninemile Cr, which carve through the topography toward the river valley. The presence of Ninemile Flat and Rima Flat suggests rare level ground amidst the prominent rises of Dodge Point and Mitchell Point.
