North Elba and the surrounding peaks of the Adirondack Park Preserve define this section of the High Peaks region. The landscape is dominated by the dramatic elevation changes of the MacIntyre Mountains, including Algonquin Peak and Wright Peak. A network of historic pathways, such as the Van Hoevenberg Trail to Marcy and the Jackrabbit Ski Trl, crisscross the terrain, reflecting the area's long-standing importance for recreation and wilderness access.
