This is a terrain of extreme vertical relief, where the Middle Fork Kings River carves through Le Conte Canyon below the sheer heights of the Black Divide and the Devils Crags. The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail traverses the western portion of the map, providing a continuous north-south human artery through a landscape of remote alpine basins such as Dusy Basin and Palisade Basin. The presence of numerous high-country water bodies, including Bishop Lake and the Barrett Lakes, highlights the glacial heritage of these granite peaks.
